letterboxes of distinctionThere are some wonderful letterboxes out there, after all they have been in production since the 1800s and have seen many a fashion come and go.
In modern times people have opted for 'clean lines', keeping things plain and simple, but we're on a mission to give a whole new lease of life to what were once beautiful Victorian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco signatures of a House Of Distinction. |
modern item of door furniture that will add the finishing touch (along with one of our door knockers) to the entrance to your castle.
Where we feel they are too nice to alter we have left them in their original finish, maybe giving them a clean, polish and lacquer to bring out their best.
You may however see signs of age including 'pitting' and fissures as can only be expected with an item over 100 years old!

Very small nickel letterbox, Victorian in appearance. The flap has "Letters" embossed which also have a criss-cross pattern to the letters.
The flap is not sprung, nor has any means to be, therefore it would be best attached to a door with a draught excluding rear letterbox panel. Total width - 16.5 x 7cm / 6.5 x 2.75", affixed by 2 bolts 13.3cm / 5.25" apart.
Flap is not sprung, falls closed with gravity.
Total width - 18cm, height 5cm
Distance between bolt centres - 14.3cm; To open flap needs 11.5cm x 4cm
Beautifully shaped Art Nouveau Letterbox with "Letters" embossed on a dappled aperture plate. The curved knocker bar provides much style to this piece. The signs of age on this piece are not damage do not distract from it's beauty. Measurements: 19 x 9cm / 7.5 x 3.5" Distance between bolt centres: 14cm / 5.5"
Elegantly simple Art Nouveau letterbox with plain aperture flap and curvy knocker bar.
Finished in nickel which has a slightly more yellow hue than chrome but equally as durable.
Measurements: 19 x 9.5cm / 7 5/8 x 3 3/4" Bolt centres are 14cm apart (5.5").
Unfortunately the original knocker bar is lost in time, so the letterbox is affixed to the door directly with two chromed roundhead bolts, supplied.
Size: 32.5 x 10.5cm, or 9 1/4". Bolts are 15.8cm or 6 1/4" apart.
There is one slight anomaly, which can be seen on the top edge: for this to be sprung the wire has to wrap around the edge or the spring would snap loose.
Measurements: 16.5 x 5.25cm / 6.5 x 5 1/16" total outside
14.75cm distance between bolts.
Unusual 'oval' letterbox, in a Mackintosh arts and crafts style. Has a solid/immovable handle. Unfortunately this has had lots of wear and tear and is not smooth, nor does it have holes to put bolts in the back and has been previously drilled to put bolts through the front. Appropriate bolts will be supplied. Also, the chrome is not 100% covered, a trained eye can see the nickel showing through.
Priced accordingly because of flaws but also of rarity.
